QuBIT free Weekend

For this weekend QuBIT is going free. No strings attached. You can download and enjoy the game for absolutely no money this weekend.

If you already have the game this is the perfect time to get your friends and family in on the action. We want to see those leaderboards on fire with new top scores. There is currently a high-score competition running so you could end up winning a $10 or £10 iTunes gift card if you turn out to be a QuBIT master.

QuBIT High-Score Competition

After the success of the previous high score competition we have decided to run another weekly Game Center challenge. We have seen some huge scores coming through recently so it’s time to reward your hard work and dedication. Make sure you are signed in to Game Center to participate.

The score will be taken from the weekly Game Center leaderboard next Wednesday (3rd August) at 11am GMT (4am PST) and the prize will be a £10 or $10 iTunes gift card

Syntheticvoid won last weeks competition with an epic score of 674,120 and is our first hall of fame member. As a previous winner he won’t be eligible to win this competition but each competition winner will be added to the hall of fame and given a very special in-game bonus (Details to be revealed at a later date).

To help you reach a crazy score Syntheticvoid was kind enough to update our Tips and Tricks forum thread with some words of wisdom.

QuBIT 1.1 Update

Version 1.1 has gone through certification, and is now up on the Store. GL 1 support (for the 2nd generation iPod Touch) is the main feature, but there are also some new animations and minor performance improvements.

Min OS version has been reduced to 4.2.1.

A Winner Is You!

Congratulations to App Symmetry (GC name syntheticvoid) for winning the game center high score challenge. Results were taken last night from the weekly leaderboard on game center and syntheticvoid was at number 1 with the huge score of 674,120. Incidentally this is the second highest score ever posted for the game. syntheticvoid is a true master at QuBIT and has earned our respect as well as a $10 iTunes Gift card.

Preview of Update 2 (Version 1.0.2)

Now that we have our first update out in the wild (dropping the iOS version to 4.2.6) it’s time to think about what we want to add next. In the forthcoming V1.0.2 update you will get all this additional goodness:

GL 1.0 support
Optimised, shader-free graphics to support the 2nd generation iPod Touch. The game will work on the iPhone 3G but performance is significantly worse than the 2nd gen Touch, so we do not recommend playing the game on an iPhone 3G. Also the 3G has no game centre support, so you wouldn’t be able to post scores and enter our competitions… Sorry guys. Get a new phone already!

Performance improvements & fixes
We have had reports of framerate hitches in some situations. This update should fix those, and a few other minor issues as well

Updated Animations
There are some very sexy new flourish animations to reward you for combos and bonus rounds.

Minimum iOS Version
Min OS now 4.2.1
