About
Secret Sauce is a small development team and publishing identity set up by Ideaworks Game Studio, to produce original, high-quality games for multiple platforms.
Ideaworks has a long pedigree with AAA brands on mobile devices. We’ve worked with Call of Duty, Lara Croft, Metal Gear Solid, Fable… the list goes on. Now we’re doing it for ourselves! The aim of Secret Sauce is to distill the experience we have built up, over years of working with the biggest IP in the business, and reapply it to our own creative efforts.
We’re starting small, of course, because we are paying the bills ourselves now! We are working on an abstract, arcadey colour-matching/racer mashup called QuBIT, due for release in June. We have lots more ideas in the pipeline, but without any high-rolling IP holders picking up the tab, we need you to buy our games (HINT!) so that we can re-invest your hard-earned monies into further gaming goodness…
Q&A
Are you really a separate team from the rest of Ideaworks?
Yes. We are still a part of Ideaworks Game Studio, we work in the same office and we drink the same coffee, but Secret Sauce is creatively independent and we run our own projects, our own way. It’s an experiment: we’re pretty good at making games for other people, but can we do it on our own? We think so, but there’s only one way to be sure.
Why “Secret Sauce”? Are you a team of cooks?
In many ways, we are! I personally am a roast dinner specialist and our producer, eh bien, he is French. Seriously though, Secret Sauce is what we call the magical ingredients and hidden wisdom that transform the functional bits of a game into something grrreat! It’s a good shorthand for what we’re all about here.
Will Ideaworks still develop awesome big-name games for iOS and other platforms?
Oh yes. The Secret Sauce team is still small, although powerful like a tiny cheese-loving superhero. IGS maintains great relationships with the big boys of the publishing world, and we have some very ambitious and exciting stuff in the works this year. Keep ‘em peeled!
Do you need any artists/designers/coders/masseurs/astronauts/spies/minstrels/chefs?
Depends
Send us your CV! Especially chefs.
What’s next?
We’d love to tell you, but we don’t know! More content and updates for QuBIT, for sure. After that ships, we will be throwing around pies ideas and prototyping concepts for something new. Stay tuned…
